EyeCare Supports Elderly Eye Health at “Israhvehinge Ufaa” Held by Vilimale’ Police

EyeCare Hospital partnered with Vilimale' Police for "Israhvehinge Ufaa" on 2 October, giving eye screening to the elderly community of Vilingili for the International Day of Older Persons.

EyeCare Hospital was honoured to partner with Vilimale’ Police for “Israhvehinge Ufaa,” held on 2 October in celebration of the International Day of Older Persons. The team provided eye screening services for the elderly community of Vilingili, supporting an evening dedicated to celebrating older persons and promoting their wellbeing.

The event offered a meaningful opportunity to connect with the community and highlight the importance of regular eye check-ups as people age. Healthy vision helps older adults maintain their independence, carry out everyday activities and enjoy time with their families. Caring for their eye health is an important part of supporting their quality of life.

Why regular eye check-ups matter for older adults

Older adults face a greater risk of conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), while those living with diabetes require particular attention to their eye health. Some conditions can develop without obvious symptoms in their early stages, making regular comprehensive eye examinations important even when vision appears unchanged. Changes in sight should be assessed rather than simply accepted as a natural part of ageing.

Thank you, Vilimale’ Police

EyeCare extends its appreciation to Vilimale’ Police for bringing the community together through this initiative and for including eye health in the celebration. Through community partnerships such as this, EyeCare continues to promote eye health awareness and support healthier vision at every age.
